Chapter Fourteen

Marie

Does your boyfriend know you go to hotels with other men?

This is getting old. I woke up from the best night of my life to another stupid message on my phone. I could hear Bash downstairs cooking something, along with other voices. I had to tell him. It hasn’t seemed like the right time, and I wasn’t going to ruin our night with this shit.

I was getting worried now, though. This person must have been following me, and that creeped me out. He’s doing what I do for our clients, without the creepy messages. I should call Quinn and ask him to talk to Jim. I hesitate before I press on his name. Bash will be offended if I don’t tell him first.

I hurry to get dressed. It might be a good idea to tell him in front of Bishop. He could be too upset to think clearly. Bishop can be my backup.

I stop in shock on the stairs, looking at the crowd in the living room. So many shades of hotness. Each of them is different yet gorgeous in their own way: all types and sizes, animals and vampires. A catalog of hot supernaturals—take your pick.

Bash stands at the stove, grumbling and cursing at Bishop, who is trying to help. Jax, Blue, and James are looking on in amusement from the bar. Ryker is staring at Bash in contemplation. Kerian and River are having an intense conversation, paying no attention to anyone else. The only woman in the group is Ava. She’s sitting on the back of the couch, looking down at her mates with love, a smirk on her lips. The amount of testosterone in the room would make any woman blush and cross her legs.

“Why the fuck did I open the door to all of you assholes?” Bash yells. He slams down the skillet in frustration. My poor mate went from being alone all the time to having a steady stream of people show up. Secretly, I think he likes it.

“Bash,” I call. His head whips towards me; he glares at the guys and moves around them to come to me.

“Sorry, baby,” he says softly. “They just showed up. I didn’t want to wake you,” he says helplessly.

“It’s fine. Are you doing okay?” I ask, touching my palm to the back of his neck. I don’t have to strain since I’m two stairs up.

“I’m pissed off. I burned the eggs. I was attempting to make you breakfast; it turned into shit because everyone shuffled in,” he grumbles.

“I appreciate the effort,” I say. “Do you have oatmeal?”

“Probably, but they are the instant packages,” he says. He plays with a strand of hair.

“That’s perfect,” I say, smiling.

“I can make it for you,” he offers.

“Thanks, Sebastian.” I kiss him briefly on the mouth.

He takes me by the hand and helps me down the stairs. He doesn’t let go until we get to the kitchen. He stops beside a stool and lifts me. He pays no attention to anyone else in the room as he searches the cupboard for oatmeal.
